MeetTheBoss.tv is something of a revelation

MeetTheBoss.tv is something of a revelation – an online business resource that is, according to user feedback, ‘an MBA on speed’, ‘brilliant’, and ‘more useful than TED’. 2.25 million return visits show this new launch offers that rare thing on the Internet: lasting value.

The man behind MeetTheBoss.tv is Spencer Green, Chairman of GDS International, the media and events company he founded in 1993.

“We have always invested every penny we’ve got in our products,” says Spencer. “Investing in the product is everything, and we see the benefits in the phenomenal response we’ve had to MeetTheBoss.”

So how did MeetTheBoss.tv begin? “Our business thrives on creating niche, bespoke services for our clients – and MeetTheBoss.tv is a prime example of this,” says Spencer. “It started in 2007, when a group of senior executives attending our summits asked for a way to communicate post meeting. Their high-level business insights attracted like-minded viewers, and they, in turn, recommended our content to their internal management teams.

“We saw a clear need for the site, and we saw growth.”

Grow it has. From post-summit brainstorm through full public launch in January 2010 to now: a global multimedia resource respected by MBA Student and CEO alike. MeetTheBoss.tv offers leadership blogs and articles, brilliantly informative infographics, and candid interviews with the business world’s movers, shakers and decision-makers who outline their core strategies, techniques and advice.

The site’s over 200,000 registered users have access to some incredible minds: Jeff Weiner, CEO of professional networking goliath LinkedIn; Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair of Disney ABC (and the most powerful woman in television), Tony Hsieh, serial entrepreneur, customer service hero and CEO of US retail rocket Zappos; Herbert Hainer, CEO of world sporting mega-brand Adidas, and; Google Chief Evangelist (and Godfather of the Internet) Vint Cerf.

In 17 years, GDS has grown from four staff and £30,000 in start-up funding, to over 500 staff and offices in Bristol, Cardiff, Kuala Lumpur, Miami, New York, and Sydney.
